Content warning: sexual battery

A sexual battery occurred in a UC Berkeley residence hall Wednesday, according to a Thursday Nixle alert from the Berkeley Police Department.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, a female UC Berkeley student went up the elevator of her residence hall, the alert noted. Shortly after leaving the elevator, she felt a person grab her buttocks with both hands.

The student turned around and saw the suspect run down the stairs, the alert added. She recognized the suspect as a person she had seen in the building’s lobby before taking the elevator upstairs.

Approximately five minutes after the battery, the student returned to the lobby with a friend and saw the suspect again, according to the alert. The suspect reportedly ran away when he saw the student.

The suspect was described as “short and small in stature” and possibly a juvenile. At the time of the alleged sexual battery, he was wearing a black hoodie and a yellow ski mask.
