The UC system will allow prospective undergraduates to submit their applications one month earlier than in previous admissions cycles, according to a press release from the UC Office of the President.

The move, which was announced Friday, permits those applying for admission for fall 2023 to submit their applications beginning Oct. 1, the press release noted. Previously, applicants were only able to submit applications beginning Nov. 1 of each year.

“We recognize that the application period can be stressful and confusing,” said Han Mi Yoon-Wu, the UC’s executive director of undergraduate admissions, in the press release. “We hope the expanded timeline will allow prospective students to work on their applications earlier and afford them the opportunity to research the campuses that best align with their aspirations for college.”

The UC application was made available Aug. 1, and the admissions deadline remains Nov. 30, according to the press release.
